Caricature Screenplay First Draft

Ext. Park - Day

In the grass, right off of the cement trail is a girl sitting behind a caricature booth and easel. The booth is cute and well made. It says "Charikichers $3".

Jessa - an 8 year old blonde girl dressed in pink. She is adorable and her smile suggest she knows it. She is joyfully waiting for her next customer, and her large eyes are scanning for suckers to draw in.
A fit, average height blonde woman power walks near the booth and stops to adore the cuteness of Jessa.

Woman
Aw!
(BEAT)
What's your name sweety.

Jessa
Jessa.

WOMAN
You're so cute, Jessa. Are you doing caricatures?

Jessa
Yes ma'am.

Woman
Can I have one?

Jessa
Mhm. Three dollars please.

Jessa puts her hand out, then the woman gives her three dollars from her pocket.

Jessa pulls a marker from her pocket and starts to draw on the easel in front of her. After she adorably puts the finishing touches on the drawing she pulls the drawing from the easel and shows the woman the drawing.

The woman tries to hide a look of disgust.

JESSA
(Whimpering)
You don't... like it?

Woman
(Panicking)
No! No! I like it.

Jessa
(Crying)
You don't have to lie.

Woman
Don't cry. Just ugh try again.

Jessa
(Whimpering)
You'll buy another?

Woman
Yeah. Totally.

Jessa
Yay!

Jessa puts her hand out and the woman puts three more dollars in it. She becomes relieved while

Jessa puts another paper on the easel.

Jessa
Can I keep the first one.

Woman
Sure, sweety.

Jessa throws the drawing under the booth and a pile of bad drawings are revealed at Jessa's feet.
